Intramuros Administration
Conceptual UI redesign
The Intramuros Administration (IA) is a Philippine government agency overseeing the preservation of Intramuros, a Spanish-colonial-era walled city in the capital of Manila. The IA aims to support sustainable tourism, urban development, and historical, cultural education.
This project, completed in HDCC106 (Seminar in Design Cultures & Creativity), posed a hypothetical website redesign to the IA that improved the site’s visual communication and navigability. Working on this prototype taught me how to conduct a thorough heuristic review of an interface, developing solutions for problematic elements while uplifting existing design strengths.
This redesign responds to several design flaws in the IA’s existing site:
I approached this redesign with several goals in mind:
A unified palette creates visual clarity and signifies interactivity. Decorative geometric shapes cohesively echo the IA’s logo.
Consistent typography, accordions, carousels, cards, quick links, and breadcrumbs structure information and guide exploration.
New “Visitors guide” section, combined with photographs of parades, dances, and festivities, foster interest in cultural involvement.
